Domestic, Commercial & Industrial Electrical Distribution Systems
Discover how electrical power is distributed, controlled and protected throughout industry.
Service Description
This one-day workshop introduces learners to electrical distribution systems, from domestic consumer units to larger commercial and industrial three-phase installations. Participants will explore the equipment, components and operating principles involved in electrical distribution, gaining valuable knowledge of the systems commonly encountered within the electrical industry. Through classroom learning and practical demonstrations, learners will develop a clearer understanding of electrical distribution arrangements and their applications. What You'll Learn Domestic Electrical Distribution - Consumer units and fuse boards. - Single-phase electrical supplies. - Circuit breakers, RCDs and RCBOs. - Main switches and isolation equipment. - Basic domestic distribution arrangements. Commercial Electrical Distribution - Three-phase electrical supplies. - Three-phase distribution boards. - Submain distribution systems. - Electrical switchgear and protective devices. - Understanding electrical distribution layouts. Industrial Electrical Distribution - Introduction to industrial power distribution. - Larger electrical distribution equipment. - Three-phase electrical systems. - Industrial isolators and switchgear. - Distribution equipment used in factories and industrial premises. Electrical Safety & Protection - Electrical hazards associated with distribution systems. - Safe isolation awareness. - Earthing and bonding principles. - Overcurrent protection. - Introduction to BS 7671 requirements. Practical Activities Learners will examine electrical distribution components and participate in supervised demonstrations using de-energised training equipment. Who Is This Course For? Electrical apprentices, electricians' mates, improvers, maintenance personnel and individuals looking to expand their understanding of domestic, commercial and industrial electrical installations. Learning Outcomes By the end of the workshop, learners will understand the fundamental principles of electrical distribution, identify common equipment and recognise the differences between single-phase and three-phase systems. From domestic consumer units to industrial three-phase distribution — discover how electrical power is safely controlled and distributed.
